DIMENSIONSCARF - wenn Spannfäden Muster machen

SATURDAY, 7.11.2026, 10am - 1pm

ROOM: GOTLAND

LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE

The Dimension Scarf uses floats to create clear, graphic patterns. The motifs do not emerge from colour changes within a row. Instead, deliberately guided floats on the right and wrong sides are used as a visible part of the knitted fabric. With simple sequences, you can create striking, modern areas of colour and lines.

This technique is especially suited to scarves and shawls where both sides are visible. In this workshop, you will learn the foundations of the technique by working a swatch for the Dimension Scarf. The session provides a solid technical understanding and a good basis for making the Dimension Scarf independently or developing your own float-based pattern ideas.

MATERIALS & WHAT TO BRING:
Please bring two balls of yarn in contrasting colours:
- one ball of silk mohair or a similar yarn
- one ball of any fingering-weight yarn

The Secret to Mastering the Japanese Short Row Technique

SATURDAY, 7.11.2026, 10am - 1pm

ROOM: rambouillet

LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE

If you have been looking for a way to take your knitting skills to the next level, this workshop is perfect for you!
It will give you a comprehensive understanding of the Japanese short-row technique, its benefits, and how it can be applied in different situations. Mastering this method could open up new possibilities for creating more complex garments, so come along and join this interactive and hands-on session! Structure and outcomes.

We will cover the background of short rows and the Japanese short-row technique. This will include an in-depth look at the fundamentals of the method, which can get quite technical. To put the theory into practice, we will make a swatch and test out five different situations.

By the end of this workshop, you will learn how to use Japanese short rows as a substitute for any other short row method, and you will be able to determine what steps to take when you encounter a short row turn in any given scenario.

Prior experience with short rows is optional. You should have basic knitting skills, including casting on, knitting and purling stitches. While experience with knit and purl decreases is ideal, it's optional, as we will practice these techniques.

MATERIALS & WHAT TO BRING:
- Fingering to DK-weight yarn in a light solid colour
- Knitting needles suitable for the chosen yarn

SATURDAY, 7.11.2026, 2Pm - 5pm

ROOM: merino

LEVEL: beginner

Curious to learn a different, beautifully ergonomic way of knitting?
In this workshop, you’ll discover Greek (also known as Portuguese) knitting, a traditional technique where the yarn is held around the neck. This method makes purl stitches surprisingly easy, improves tension control, and allows for smooth, relaxed knitting with minimal hand movement.
We’ll start from the basics and explore how this technique
- Creates even, consistent stitches
- Reduces strain on hands, wrists, and shoulders
- Improves posture and comfort while knitting
- Makes switching between knit and purl stitches effortless

During the workshop, we’ll practice all the essential stitches and work through a simple chart together, so you can immediately feel confident using the technique.
Suitable for all levels. No prior knowledge of Greek/Portuguese knitting is required.

MATERIALS & WHAT TO BRING:
Participants should bring DK yarn, 4 mm needles and stitch markers.

* Knit 3 colours in a single round smoothly;
* Manage tension and floats;
* Embellish your sock with duplicate stitches;

MATERIALS & WHAT TO BRING:

MATERIALS & WHAT TO BRING:
Bitte bringe Folgendes mit:
ein Maßband
Schreibzeug

Masterclass: Fully Tailored Shoulders – Construction and Details

ROOM: MERINO

LEVEL: ADVANCED

sunday, 8.11.2026, 2Pm - 5pm

In this masterclass, experienced knitters and beginning designers explore the construction of fully tailored shoulders in seamless sweater design. You will learn how body measurements, shaping techniques, and key calculations work together to create a well-fitting garment, and leave with a practical roadmap for adjusting existing patterns or developing your own fully tailored shoulder design.

Topics addressed in this workshop include:
1. Foundations of Fully Tailored Shoulders - We begin with the conceptual and technical foundations of this sweater construction. You will look at what makes fully tailored shoulders different, which measurement points matter most, and how construction choices influence texture and colour design.

2. Fit and Body Understanding - This part focuses on translating body measurements into garment measurements. We will examine armhole depth and why it is crucial, as well as the basics of neck shaping and the fundamentals of sleeve shaping.

3. Shaping Techniques Toolbox - You will then build a practical toolbox for sweater shaping, with a focused look at where and how to use increases, decreases, and short rows effectively.

4. Construction & Calculations - Finally, we bring the design process into structured planning. You will learn which calculations come into play for this sweater style and how shaping decisions translate into stitch and row counts.

This workshop is aimed at experienced knitters who would like to begin designing their own garments or deepen their understanding of sweater construction. Participants should be comfortable working with swatches as part of their knitting practice. Some knowledge of Excel can be helpful, but it is not required.

Ladderback Jacquard – Knitting Irregular Colourwork

ROOM: GOTLAND

LEVEL: INTERMEDIATE

sunday, 8.11.2026, 2Pm - 5pm

Ladderback Jacquard is a special technique for securing long floats on the wrong side of a Fair Isle or Jacquard pattern with a so-called ladder stitch. What makes this technique special is that it allows you to develop highly irregular motifs without your knitted fabric losing elasticity, leaving very long floats on the wrong side, or making the woven-in catches slightly visible on the right side as can happen with the classic method.

In this workshop, you will learn the basic Ladderback Jacquard techniques, from creating the ladder stitch to releasing it again, along with possible ways to use the technique.

MATERIALS & WHAT TO BRING:
Please bring two balls of the same yarn in contrasting colours. Use DK weight yarn and 4-mm needles. Please do not use cotton or silk.

Homework:
Using one of the two balls, cast on 48 stitches. Place a stitch marker for the beginning of the round and join to work in the round. Knit 6 rounds in stockinette stitch.

Join designer and colour enthusiast Georgia Farrell for a hands-on workshop all about the joy of colour journaling.

Through a series of playful exercises, Georgia will introduce you to some of her favourite methods for journalling around colour as a knitter and together, you will build the beginnings of your very own colour journal.
This method of recording colours and experimenting with colour in a physical way, is a big part of Georgia’s design practice and something she credits with transforming the way she sees and uses colour.

Please bring:
A blank colour journal. That can be a small sketchbook or a small ring binder folder, I use and like both. If you decide to go for the ring binder option, please fill it with some blank pieces of card to work onto.
A selection of yarn scraps you are drawn to for their colour.
Any photographs that you have taken that you like the colours of.
Any magazine tear outs, postcards from exhibitions, leaflets, paper packaging, that you like for their colours.
Please try to bring at least one image that you really like the combination of colours, this could be a photograph you’ve taken, a post card, a print out of a piece of art you like, a page from a magazine, anything at all.
A selection of coloured paper.
Glue stick and tape.
A stapler is useful but not essential.
A hole punch
Paper scissors.
